About the Role

As the successful Materials Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging Woodwork and Materials Technology classes across Years 7-10. The teaching load consists of approximately five classes, with average class sizes of around 20 students, allowing you to build strong relationships and provide meaningful practical learning experiences.

The school is flexible regarding workload, with 0.8 FTE considered the ideal load, although applications from teachers seeking anything between 0.6 FTE and full-time are welcomed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Materials Technology and Woodwork lessons across Years 7-10

  • Foster a safe, inclusive and productive workshop environment

  • Teach students the safe and effective use of tools, machinery and workshop equipment

  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback

  • Contribute positively to the wider Technology faculty and school community

You will have:

  • Current or pending Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration

  • Qualifications in Education with the ability to teach Materials Technology, Product Design, Woodwork or a related subject area

  • Demonstrated experience teaching practical Technology subjects in a secondary school setting

  • Strong knowledge of workshop safety procedures and machinery operation

  • Relevant machinery or workshop safety certification (highly regarded)

  • A commitment to fostering student engagement through practical, hands-on learning
