Briscoe Search & Consulting is delighted to work on behalf of our client, Andel Resources, company building a different kind of gold mining business. The organisation is fully funded, moving rapidly into production and assembling the people, partnerships and operating capability required to manage a growing portfolio of Western Australian gold projects. The strategy is clear, the contracts are taking shape, and the business is attracting high-calibre people who see the opportunity to build something meaningful.

Over the next 12 months, the Chief Operating Officer will take responsibility for a portfolio progressing toward 4 remote mining operations. Each project has its own production profile, contractors, logistics and operating challenges. Together, they represent a rare opportunity to establish the operating model for a growing gold producer from the ground up.

Reporting to the CEO, you will have end-to-end accountability for mining operations, including production, safety, mine planning, contractor performance, ore haulage, rehabilitation and operational readiness. You will work within a matrix structure, drawing on group capability across geology, engineering, people, finance, equipment rental, contract mining and toll treatment. Your role will be to bring those functions together, maintain clear accountability and ensure every operation delivers safely, commercially and to plan.

Andel operates through a practical, partnership-led model. Mining, drill and blast, haulage and other services will be delivered through a combination of group businesses and external contractors. You will build productive relationships with those partners, set clear expectations and hold them accountable for performance.

You will also lead experienced site-based teams across multiple remote locations. Each operation will require trusted leadership, disciplined planning and strong communication between mine managers, mining engineers, geologists, safety professionals, infrastructure teams and contractors.

Success will mean:

• Safely establishing and operating a portfolio of four gold mining projects
• Delivering production, cost, grade and ore movement targets
• Building trusted, capable leadership teams at each site
• Integrating mine planning, grade control, haulage and toll treatment
• Maintaining strong commercial control across contractors and group service providers
• Creating scalable operating systems without slowing the business down
• Building a culture where people take ownership and raise issues early

You will bring substantial open-pit gold mining experience and a strong understanding of Western Australian operating conditions. You may already be operating as a COO, or you may be a highly regarded mining executive / manager ready to take the next step.

Either way, you will need the technical credibility to understand the detail, the commercial judgement to make sound decisions and most importantly, the leadership presence to build trust across dispersed teams and bring your people on the journey.

Your comfort operating without a large corporate structure around you, combined with an proven ability to think ahead, remaining close to site-level performance will place you well to be considered for this highly exciting leadership role. You will be direct, calm and accountable, with the energy to help build a business rather than simply inherit one.
