Senior AI Engineer - Copilot Studio

Fusion5

The Opportunity

You know the Microsoft ecosystem well enough to have an opinion about it. You've built things in Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Power Automate that have actually made it into production - things that people use every day to get work done. You know what's possible, you know what looks better on paper than it turns out to be in practice, and you know how to bridge the gap between a business stakeholder who wants magic and a platform that has real constraints.

At Fusion5, you'll take that knowledge into enterprise AI delivery. Australian organisations are deploying AI agents right now - in Microsoft Teams, in their ERPs, in their service desks - and they need someone who can make those agents genuinely useful, not just technically functional. That's the difference this role makes.

You'll be the Copilot Studio specialist within AI delivery squads: the person who can turn a client's requirement into a working agent in days, who can demo it in a way that builds confidence, and who knows when to call in the pro-code engineer versus when the low-code path is the smarter choice.

What you’ll do

You'll design and build Copilot Studio agents for enterprise clients - agents with real knowledge sources, real tool calling, real integrations, and real users who will quickly tell you if they don't work the way they should. You'll connect these agents to Dataverse, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and the ERP systems clients run their businesses on, using Power Automate flows and custom connectors to build the automation layer underneath.

You'll work directly with clients from the first discovery session through to go-live. That means facilitating conversations to find where AI agents add genuine value, prototyping quickly to validate the approach, and iterating based on feedback from real users. You'll demo to business stakeholders and explain, in plain language, what the agent does and doesn't do.

You'll know when to extend beyond Copilot Studio's native limits - integrating Azure OpenAI backends, Azure AI Search, or handing off to the Foundry engineer when the problem genuinely needs pro-code. And you'll contribute to how the practice does this: building reusable agent templates, refining governance standards, and making the next engagement faster because of what you learned in this one.

Tech stack

  • Copilot Studio
  • Power Platform
  • Power Automate
  • Dataverse
  • Microsoft 365
  • Teams integration
  • Azure OpenAI
  • Azure AI Search
  • Canvas Apps
  • Microsoft Graph

What we’re looking for

  • You have 3+ years working with Microsoft Power Platform in a development or solutions capacity - and Copilot Studio is genuinely part of your toolkit, not just on your CV.
  • You've built Power Automate flows and Dataverse solutions that run in production. You understand the difference between what works in a demo environment and what holds up with real users and real data.
  • You're comfortable with the full M365 surface: Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Graph - you know how to put AI where users already are rather than where it's technically convenient.
  • You can sit across the table from a business stakeholder who doesn't speak technology and figure out what they actually need - then translate it into something you can build next week.
  • You know when to use Copilot Studio and when to extend it. You're not precious about the platform's limits and you're honest with clients about them.
  • You can demo a working prototype and make it land with a non-technical audience without overselling what it does.

Nice to have

  • Microsoft Power Platform or Copilot Studio certifications.
  • Experience with Azure AI services - Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, or Azure AI Search - for backend AI integration.
  • Python or JavaScript/TypeScript for extending low-code solutions when you hit the platform ceiling.
  • Professional services or consulting background - you've managed client relationships alongside technical delivery.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI frameworks and enterprise data governance requirements.

What we offer

  • Meaningful client work Enterprise AI agents that actually go into production and change how organisations work- not POCs that gather dust.
  • Microsoft ecosystem depth Work at the frontier of Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and M365 AI with direct access to Microsoft partner resources.
  • Squad delivery model Focused delivery squads alongside architects and the Foundry engineer - tight teams where your contributions are visible.
  • Growth path Clear progression toward Technical Lead and Principal roles as the AI practice scales.
  • Learning investment Certification support, conference access, and genuine time to stay current with a platform that moves fast.

Why this role matters

Microsoft's Copilot ecosystem has matured fast. Copilot Studio is now a serious enterprise platform - capable of building agents that integrate with real enterprise data, handle complex multi-step tasks, and deploy into the productivity tools employees already use every day. But the gap between what's technically possible and what actually gets built well is still significant.

Fusion5's Copilot Studio engineer is the person who closes that gap for Australian enterprise clients. You're not just configuring a chatbot - you're designing the user-facing AI experience that determines whether a client's AI investment delivers on its promise or becomes another technology project people quietly work around. We need someone who takes that seriously, who cares about whether users actually trust and use what's built, and who finds that more motivating than any individual feature.

How to Apply

If you're excited by the opportunity to build enterprise AI solutions that deliver real business value and want to help shape the future of AI at Fusion5, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now with your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and AI-driven solutions. If you've built AI agents, automations, or low-code solutions you're particularly proud of, we'd love to hear about those too.
