Insurance - Associate/Senior Associate

We're seeking a talented Associate or Senior Associate (3-8 years' PQE) to join our Adelaide Insurance team working alongside Grant Mitchell.

The Role

We're seeking a dedicated and talented Associate or Senior Associate (3-8 years' PQE) to join our Adelaide Insurance team working alongside Grant Mitchell. The team acts for some of Australia’s largest insurers, corporate entities, the State of South Australia, and NFPs in South Australian and Commonwealth courts in the areas of professional indemnity and public & product liability.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing a varied defendant insurance caseload, taking ownership of files and progressing matters with appropriate independence
• Preparing high‑quality pleadings, correspondence, advices, and evidence summaries, applying sound legal reasoning and commercial awareness
• Liaising confidently with insurers, insured clients, experts, and counsel to progress matters efficiently and maintain strong professional relationships
• Attending court events, mediations, and settlement conferences, assisting with advocacy and negotiation as required

Who We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Between 3–8 years’ PQE within a defendant insurance practice, with in‑house insurance or claims experience also valued
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear, commercially attuned work
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders
• Proven ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
• A proactive mindset toward learning, development, and expanding technical and strategic capability
