Our client is an Australian engineering and technology organisation delivering innovative capability to the Defence maritime sector. With a strong pipeline of work supporting new naval platforms and Defence maritime capability, they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their growing team in Darwin.

This is an opportunity to work on leading-edge Defence technology, supporting the maintenance, reliability and operational readiness of next-generation maritime platforms. You'll be part of a highly capable engineering team, providing technical support in a hands-on environment where no two days are the same.

The Opportunity

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electronic systems while supporting field operations and engineering activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring critical Defence capability remains operational, while also contributing to ongoing product and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced fault finding and root cause analysis across mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on Defence maritime platforms and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose technical issues using a range of electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to support complex troubleshooting activities.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Support field operations, testing, commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to deliver reliable, mission-ready capability.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be a practical engineer who enjoys getting hands-on and solving challenging technical problems.

You'll Ideally Bring

  • Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Strong fault-finding skills using electronic test equipment and diagnostic equipment.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience improving the reliability and maintainability of operational equipment.
  • Hands-on experience building, maintaining or repairing mechanical and electronic systems.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience within Defence, maritime, naval, aerospace, industrial automation, mining, heavy industry or other high-reliability engineering environments will be highly regarded.
