Asset Engineer, Civil/Structural

About the Role

As an Asset Engineer (Civil / Structural), you will provide specialist asset engineering expertise to manage and optimise the University’s civil and structural infrastructure across its NSW campuses. This includes buildings, pavements, drainage, retaining walls, bridges, and broader site infrastructure, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, and delivering long-term performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lifecycle asset management including condition assessments, deterioration modelling, risk evaluation and renewal planning.
• Conduct structural inspections and analyse asset performance to inform decision-making and reporting.
• Provide technical civil and structural engineering advice and support capital works planning, design reviews and project delivery.
Drive continuous improvement in asset data quality, systems and processes.

About the Team

This role sits within the Infrastructure and Property Division, responsible for the planning, development and management of UOW’s campuses and built environment. The team works collaboratively to deliver safe, sustainable and innovative environments that support teaching, research and community outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in civil/structural engineering within complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, WHS and compliance requirements.
• Capability in lifecycle asset management and data-driven decision making.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

• Employment type: Full-time | 2 year fixed term appointment
• Level 6/7 | $96,898 – $119,986 + 17% superannuation
• Location: Wollongong Campus
• Valid Australian work rights required
