Lead the City of Perth's 2029 Initiative

As the Strategic Projects Lead you will lead the City’s recognition of 200 years since the establishment of the Swan River Colony on the banks of the Derbarl Yerrigan in 1829.

You will work across the City’s team to lead the development of this significant milestone. You will provide whole-of-City leadership, driving the planning, coordination and delivery of a landmark program that recognises a diverse and contested heritage while creating a lasting legacy for the community.

Working collaboratively across Council and with key community stakeholders, you will build on the established vision, themes and strategic direction to shape and support the delivery of the City’s Bicentenary program. This includes coordinating project planning, funding strategies, budgets and governance, while bringing together an inspired program of events, grants and legacy initiatives. The program will recognise the City’s shared history, reflect the future vision and deliver lasting benefits for generations to come.

Reporting to the Alliance Manager Arts and Culture within our City Culture team, your responsibilities would primarily include:

  • Working across the City team to lead and coordinate the planning and delivery of strategic projects and programs that create lasting community outcomes;
  • Building on the strong partnerships across Council, government, community and industry to deliver an integrated Bicentenary program;
  • Overseeing project governance, including planning, budgets, funding, risk and performance; and
  • Providing strategic advice and reporting to Executive and Council, driving informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated experience in managing and leading complex projects, ideally within community, heritage, arts, culture and major events or related experience;
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build partnerships across government, community and industry;
  • Strong leadership, collaboration and influencing skills, with a track record of delivering shared outcomes; and
  • Highly organised and solutions-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex challenges and work autonomously.

Eligibility

To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A right to work in Australia (e.g. a birth certificate, current passport or current visa);
  • A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
