Remuneration: Band 7 salary from $115,575.61 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO

Location: Werribee based with travel across the Wyndham Municipality as required

About the role

As a member of the Roads and Maintenance Department, the Principal Construction Supervisor plays a key role in the successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects that support one of Australia's fastest growing municipalities.

Reporting to the Coordinator Engineering Construction, you will oversee the supervision of Council capital works projects and subdivision developments, ensuring infrastructure is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, providing mentoring and guidance to Construction Supervisors while driving consistency in construction surveillance, contract administration and site management practices.

This position involves regular site inspections across the municipality and occasional after-hours work where operational requirements demand.

What your day will look like

  • Supervise and inspect Council capital works projects and subdivision developments to ensure compliance with specifications, contracts and industry standards
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and on-site support to Construction Supervisors while promoting consistent construction surveillance practices
  • Manage contractor performance, resolve construction issues and negotiate outcomes with developers, utilities, government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Monitor construction sites to ensure compliance with environmental requirements, quality assurance processes and workplace health and safety standards
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by reviewing construction practices, implementing new processes and sharing technical knowledge across the team

What you will bring

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive industry experience
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Significant experience supervising civil infrastructure construction projects, particularly road and drainage works
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors and administering construction contracts
  • Strong knowledge of subdivision construction, civil construction methodologies, quality assurance and relevant Australian standards
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding in civil infrastructure design will be highly regarded
