We are currently seeking a Principal Heritage & Native Title to join the team in our Subiaco head office, reporting to the Environmental & Approvals Manager, you will provide strategic and practical advice to internal stakeholders on cultural heritage planning and management to ensure Brightstar’s activities comply with relevant legislative, regulatory and agreement obligations.

As the Principal Heritage & Native Title, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and represent Brightstar during cultural heritage surveys, Traditional Owner meetings and other heritage-related consultation activities.
  • Review, update and support the implementation of heritage governance documents, procedures and systems, including changes required to respond to legislative or regulatory reform.
  • Prepare heritage approval documentation, including briefing materials, maps, presentations, correspondence and supporting information as required.
  • Assist in the negotiation of native title agreements to secure land access and maintain positive relationships.
  • Ensure company compliance with heritage and native title agreements including the minuting of related meetings and engagements, drafting notifications and preparing briefing papers.
  • Assist with exploration and mining title applications by providing advice on the application of Native Title legislation and regulatory processes.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Archaeology, Anthropology, Land Management, Native Title, Law, Environmental Management or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience in cultural heritage, Native Title, land access or approvals.
  • Demonstrated experience in cultural heritage and Native Title management within the mining or resources sector, including practical experience working with Traditional Owners, Prescribed Body Corporates, representative bodies and their advisors.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Western Australian and Commonwealth cultural heritage and Native Title legislation, regulatory requirements, agreement obligations and approval processes as they apply to mining and exploration activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, agreements and regulatory requirements, and to manage associated risks, obligations, commitments and assurance processes.
  • Experience developing and implementing practical cultural heritage, Native Title and stakeholder engagement strategies that support project delivery and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners and key stakeholders.
