About Ward A

Ward A at Casey Hospital delivers a variety of services to Emergency and Elective Surgery including Gynaecology, Urology, Plastics, ENT, General and Neurology.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) to join the Ward A team in a part-time ongoing position (64 hours per fortnight).

Reporting to the Nurse Manager and working closely with the multidisciplinary team, the ANM plays a key clinical leadership role in supporting the day-to-day operational management of the ward while ensuring safe, evidence-based, and timely patient care.

The successful candidate will assist the Nurse Manager in leading the team, supporting staff development, and driving excellence in clinical and operational outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Associate Nurse Manager include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the Nurse Manager to provide effective, visible leadership and clinical supervision across the team

Assisting and deputising for the Nurse Manager as required

Managing workload allocation, roster coordination, leave management, and staff performance development

Facilitating efficient and effective nursing handovers

Coordinating patient admission and discharge processes while proactively managing barriers to patient flow

Ensuring compliance with legislation relating to privacy, confidentiality, and management of personal information

Participating in the development and review of Nursing and Midwifery policies and procedures

Attending multidisciplinary and family meetings as required

Managing and being accountable for designated clinical and operational portfolios or projects

About You

You are an experienced and compassionate nurse leader with proven clinical leadership experience in a hospital setting. You are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care while supporting and mentoring staff within a collaborative team environment.

Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities

Dedication to patient-centred care and patient advocacy

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Enthusiasm for continuous improvement and professional growth

Accountability in managing clinical or operational portfolios

What You Need

Demonstrated clinical experience in a General Surgical or high-acuity ward environment (essential)

Proven clinical leadership experience at CNS level or above within a hospital setting

Willingness to further develop leadership capabilities through portfolio management

A relevant postgraduate qualification (highly desirable)
