The purpose of Risk & Legal is to help our business partners succeed via valued risk and compliance advice, whilst safeguarding UniSuper through effective controls assurance and oversight. The Legal team comprises two teams: Corporate Legal and Investments Legal. Both teams support the General Counsel.

The role
This role provides practical, commercial and risk-based legal advice across a broad range of matters, supporting Corporate Legal’s advisory and negotiations remit. You will partner closely with stakeholders across the business while contributing to the protection of UniSuper’s legal position.
You will:
- Provide high-quality, timely legal advice across superannuation, financial services, trust and related laws
- Review disclosure materials, including product documents and marketing collateral, from a legal perspective
- Work on regulatory enquiries, incidents, breaches and remediation activities
- Stay across legislative and regulatory developments and apply them in a practical business context
- Review and improve policies, procedures and business processes Identify and navigate legal risks, propose solutions and escalate complex or high-risk matters where appropriate
About you
You bring strong legal capability and a commercial, risk-based mindset, with the ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice across a range of stakeholders. You are collaborative and adaptable, comfortable working independently while exercising sound judgment on when to escalate.
- Legal qualifications with a current Victorian practising certificate
- Experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear, practical advice
- Strong research and analytical capability
- Knowledge of superannuation, financial services or trust law (highly desirable) Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage stakeholder relationships effectively
