Finance Business Partner

Charterhouse Partnership | Australia

Finance Business Partner

Duration: Permanent Opportunity

Location: Sydney

Salary: $175,000 package

We are partnering with a leading organisation in the education sector to appoint a Finance Business Partner into a permanent role based in Sydney.

This is not a traditional business partnering role focused primarily on BAU reporting, month-end commentary, and explaining variances. Instead, this position sits at the heart of strategic decision-making, partnering with leaders across two large business units, drive initiatives, and deliver meaningful operational outcomes.

The Opportunity

Reporting into an experienced and highly regarded finance leader, you will operate as a genuine strategic finance partner, providing insight, challenge, and commercial thinking across a dynamic and evolving portfolio.

You will help stakeholders move beyond identifying issues and instead focus on solving problems, evaluating options, and delivering sustainable outcomes within financial constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior stakeholders across two main business units
  • Provide strategic financial insight to support business objectives
  • Develop financial models and scenario analysis to support decision-making
  • Support and challenge business cases for new initiatives and projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
  • Collaborate closely with procurement and operational teams
  • Influence outcomes through strong stakeholder engagement rather than direct authority
  • Operate effectively in an environment with ambiguity and evolving structures

What Will Make You Successful?

We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, strategic, and proactive, someone who can influence conversations and help the business make better decisions.

You will bring

  • Proven experience in a Finance Business Partnering role
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking capability
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders
  • A solutions-focused mindset with strong critical thinking
  • High levels of accountability and ownership
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive outcomes

Why Apply?

  • Permanent role with a respected organisation in the education sector
  • Opportunity to partner with senior leaders on strategic initiatives
  • A role where your insights will genuinely influence decision-making and business outcomes
