Your impact

Reporting to the Director Security, Asia Pacific, the Lead Security will provide operational leadership and technical guidance across Newmont's Australian operations. Working closely with site leadership teams and security personnel, you will support the implementation of security programs, risk assessments, investigations, emergency preparedness activities, and compliance requirements.

This role is ideal for an experienced security professional who enjoys balancing strategic security initiatives with practical site-level support and stakeholder engagement.

As part of our team you will

  • Coordinate and support security operations across Australian sites, ensuring consistent application of Newmont security standards and operating procedures.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to site security teams while supporting workforce planning and capability development.
  • Support the implementation of regional security strategies, programs and governance frameworks.
  • Oversee the application of Security Threat and Risk Assessments (STRA) and Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA), ensuring mitigation measures are tracked and implemented.
  • Support security incident response, investigations and reporting while ensuring timely communication and information sharing across sites.
  • Assist with emergency response planning, contingency preparedness and security exercises to strengthen site readiness.
  • Monitor emerging security risks, trends and regulatory developments and provide practical guidance to operational stakeholders.
  • Promote compliance with Newmont policies, standards and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).
  • Support audits, inspections and assurance activities to drive continuous improvement across security programs.
  • Foster collaboration between site teams, regional leadership and external stakeholders to achieve security objectives.

Prerequisites for your success in the role

You will be a collaborative and solutions-focused security leader with the ability to influence stakeholders and effectively manage competing priorities across multiple operational sites.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in security, law enforcement, military, emergency services or a related field.
  • Experience supporting security operations within mining, industrial, resources, infrastructure or other high-risk environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising teams and developing security capability.
  • Experience managing security incidents, investigations and response activities.
  • Knowledge of security risk management methodologies and security governance frameworks.

Technical Expertise

  • Security Threat and Risk Assessments (STRA).
  • Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA).
  • Physical and electronic security systems including CCTV, access control and intrusion detection systems.
  • Incident management, investigations and reporting.
  • Emergency response and crisis management processes.
  • Security compliance, auditing and assurance activities.

Your work environment

This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement based out of Newmont’s Perth office in Subiaco, Western Australia. Applicants living in another Australian capital city location or residing near any Newmont Global Hubs will be considered if the ideal candidate.

The position will require flexibility to travel to Newmont office and/or mine site locations on a regular as required basis, including international travel.
