Information Security Manager

As an Information Security Manager at Optus, you'll support a major Australian Federal Government account. You will assist in ensuring compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Information Security Manual (ISM), Essential Eight, and agency-specific security requirements, contributing to governance, risk management, compliance, accreditation, and assurance activities across customer environments. The position requires a hands-on practitioner capable of developing security documentation, supporting audits and assessments, managing risk activities, and engaging effectively with delivery teams and customer stakeholders.
Due to the nature of this role, Australian Citizenship and an active Baseline (minimum) or NV1 clearance, with the ability to maintain AGSVA clearance, are essential.
What You’ll Do | Your day to day will consist of
- Lead security governance, risk, compliance, and assurance activities in alignment with PSPF, ISM, ASD guidance, and customer security requirements.
- Manage the identification, assessment, treatment, and reporting of cybersecurity risks, including maintenance of risk registers and risk treatment plans.
- Develop and maintain accreditation and assurance artefacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Risk Management Plans (SRMPs), Security Risk Assessments (SRAs), Statements of Applicability (SoAs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
- Manage security audits, IRAP assessments, compliance reviews, and remediation activities.
- Serve as a trusted security adviser to internal and client collaborators, representing the account in governance forums and engaging with customer security authorities as required.
What You Bring | What makes you perfect for the role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Risk Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in information security, with at least 3+ years in GRC or assurance leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, compliance audits, and system accreditation in a federal environment.
- Outstanding communication in both writing and speaking, able to develop reports and briefings intended for executives.
