The People and Culture Business Partner is a key member of the People and Culture team, working closely with leaders across Westbourne Grammar to support the school's strategic priorities, culture and future growth. This role combines strategic advice with operational leadership and is suited to an experienced HR professional who enjoys coaching leaders and managing complex people matters.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, you will:

  • Partner with leaders across the school to provide practical advice across the employee lifecycle.
  • Coach and support leaders in managing performance, conduct, grievances and workplace concerns.
  • Support the interpretation and application of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and industrial instruments.
  • Lead recruitment for designated roles and contribute to workforce planning and succession initiatives.
  • Provide leadership within the team, mentor colleagues and deputise for the Director as required.
  • Ensure the integrity of HR systems, workforce data, documentation and people processes.
  • Support WorkCover and return-to-work processes.

About You

You are a senior HR professional who is confident working with leaders and steady under pressure.

You bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR or People and Culture Business Partner role, along with a sound understanding of Australian employment legislation and enterprise agreements.
  • Proven experience coaching and influencing leaders across employee relations, performance, and organisational change.
  • Experience using HR systems and using workforce information to support planning and improvement.
  • Strong written communication skills, and good judgement handling sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A practical, improvement-minded approach and a values-led way of working.
