About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists to join our innovative supportive and growing Paediatric unit at Werribee Mercy. Our paediatric unit is currently expanding with growth in our outpatient/inpatient services and has a well-established busy SCN service.

We are seeking motivated Paediatric Registrars to join our team for the clinical year.

The Registrar role for 2027 will include

This is a full-time role on a rotating roster, offering exposure across multiple areas of paediatric practice, including:

  • General Paediatrics Inpatient Unit
  • A busy 16-bed Level 4 Special Care Nursery (SCN)
  • Paediatric and Neonatal Hospital in the Home (HITH) services
  • Outpatient and review clinics

Training & Support

We place a strong emphasis on registrar development and education. The role includes:

  • 5 hours of protected, phone-free teaching every Wednesday
  • Close consultant supervision with opportunities for graded autonomy
  • Involvement in bedside teaching, case discussions, and clinical reviews
  • A supportive environment with approachable senior staff and a collaborative team culture

Positions available

  • Job share and part time positions will be considered
  • 6-month, 12 month and year combination positions available
  • Combination posts consist of
  • 6-month General Paediatrics WMH and 6-month Community Paediatrics WMH and vice versa
  • 6 month General Paediatrics WMH and 6 months NICU - Mercy Hospital for Women
  • Both General Paediatrics and Community Paediatrics WMH are accredited for Advanced training
  • PEM trainees are welcome to apply

About You

We are looking for a Registrar who has:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Paediatric and neonatal experience (minimum 6 months experience in dedicated NICU)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interest in being part of a team
  • Enthusiasm to learn
