About The Role
As the ECT Recovery Nurse, you’ll provide safe, high-quality care to people receiving Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). You’ll support patients through all stages of their treatment, assist the ECT Coordinator with daily operations, and contribute to data and quality activities. When ECT is not scheduled, you’ll provide clinical support to the Neuropsychiatry and Eating Disorders Unit.
The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS) provides compassionate, recovery-focused care across inpatient and community settings – 24 hours, 7 days a week. Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to excellence in patient care and provide the highest standard of clinical input to the ECT treating team, working closely with the ECT Coordinator to achieve positive outcomes for individuals who are receiving ECT
- Assist the ECT Coordinator in the day to day operation of ECT at RMH ECT Suite. This will include duties within the ECT procedure room, recovery room and waiting area. Optimising waitlist management and improving access to echocardiography services
- Deliver care to patients post-procedure in the recovery area. This includes monitoring the patient’s airway, breathing, circulation and level of consciousness.
- Provide care to out-patients pre and post ECT. This includes preparation, recovery and discharge of outpatients.
About You
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and 5+ years post-graduate experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
- Experience in ECT and/or recovery settings
- Excellent communication, clinical, and organisational skills
- Understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act and ECT guidelines
Desirable
- Experience in ECT coordination, audits, or quality improvement
- Advanced Life Support trained
