We Want People Who Are Passionate About Sports Technology
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead our next generation hardware/firmware initiatives across the core of our ‘on-field’ technology platform. From wearable devices and docks, to portable and fixed live capture infrastructure, all backed by a sophisticated IoT platform.
Based in Melbourne and reporting into the Director of Product for On-Field monitoring, you'll own the hardware/firmware product end-to-end. Turning customer insight and hard data into a clear roadmap, sharp prioritisation and well-defined requirements: driving our hardware/firmware products from ideation through to general availability. You'll be the voice of the customer in every decision, working alongside engineering, industrial design, manufacturing partners and fellow PMs to ship products that exceed our customers’ expectations.
This is a role for a technically fluent product leader. It requires genuine hardware/firmware product development experience and a proven track record of bringing complex electronics and connected-device products to market: someone who can engage credibly across the hardware and firmware stack, navigate the realities of manufacturing and production, and hold the line on the data quality our customers rely on.
What You’ll Do
- Own the 'on-field' hardware and firmware space as the single point of product accountability
- Be the voice of the customer — map customer journeys, analyse competitor products, and uncover unmet market needs.
- Provide vision and direction to your team and other stakeholders for the continued innovation and evolution of our hardware products.
- Translate customer problems and product objectives into well-defined specifications the engineering teams can build from.
- Define, track and act on the metrics that prove whether a product is succeeding, in development and in the field.
- Partner closely with hardware and firmware engineering, industrial design and QA to navigate technical trade-offs and keep development moving.
- Work hand-in-hand with manufacturing and supply-chain partners to ensure production readiness, and champion cost, reliability and serviceability across each product's life.
- Lead hardware field testing, beta and GA deployments while synthesizing real-world feedback into product improvements
- Partner with engineers and third-party partners on R&D into emerging technologies, focused on the value it unlocks for users.
- Collaborate with our R&D Sports Science team to ensure the outcomes of our product testing and validation process meet the highest standards.
What You’ll Need
- 6+ years in product management, including 3+ years taking complex hardware or connected-device products from concept through to launch
- Strong project management experience involving multiple stakeholders in different timezones
- You engage credibly with hardware and firmware engineers, follow the trade-offs, and challenge the thinking effectively
- Deep customer empathy and proven experience leading customer discovery processes
- Be data driven in decision making, and be able to show an understanding of measuring impact
- Outstanding communication skills with ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts clearly
- Ability to work autonomously and self-motivated with high intellectual curiosity
- Results-oriented mindset with a bias for action.
- Experience working in sports technology, wearables, or connected device ecosystems is highly desirable
- Experience in GPS, Local Positioning System (LPS), ultra wide band or bluetooth technologies, desirable
