GCG Health Safety & Hygiene
Job Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Brisbane Office
Job Category: Occupational Hygiene
Drive Technical Excellence and Help Shape Our Growth in South Australia
GCG is seeking an experienced occupational hygiene professional to join our growing Adelaide team. Whether you’re a seasoned hygienist looking to step into a leadership and business development role, or a Senior hazmat consultant ready to broaden your scope more widely into the full sphere of occupational hygiene, this is a rare opportunity to shape both your own career and the future of the GCG South Australian team.
In this role you’ll work alongside and be supported by some of Australia’s most respected and experienced Certified Occupational Hygienists, take ownership of high-profile projects, and play a genuine role in growing GCG’s presence across the state. It will also provide the opportunity to be part of the greater GCG organisation as one of the largest occupational hygiene providers in the country.
The Role
Based in Adelaide, you will deliver occupational hygiene services across a diverse range of industries – including tunnelling, mining, manufacturing, construction, and defence – while also contributing to business development and client growth in South Australia.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Conducting on-site occupational hygiene monitoring for our existing clients in South Australia.
- Leading occupational hygiene monitoring programs and exposure assessments across client sites.
- Delivering high-quality technical reports, findings, and recommendations.
- Providing advice on exposure control strategies and regulatory compliance requirements for clients.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities to grow GCG’s South Australian client base, with support from the larger GCG team.
- Supporting the development of new and existing team members and contributing to GCG’s strong collaborative team culture.
- Working alongside GCG’s Certified Occupational Hygienists and senior team members on various local and large-scale national projects.
- Contributing to project planning, proposals, and technical initiatives.
- Travelling to client sites across South Australia (and occasionally interstate) as required.
A Genuine Growth Opportunity
GCG’s South Australian operations are expanding, and this role is integral to that growth. You’ll have the opportunity to be more than a delivery consultant – you’ll help shape our market presence, contribute to winning work, and build lasting client partnerships. For the right person, this is a pathway to real influence within a national business that values initiative and has strong foundations to provide a platform for growth.
We are looking for a strong all-rounder in occupational hygiene, so if you have a background in hazardous materials consulting – asbestos, lead, or other contaminants – and are looking to expand into the broader field of occupational hygiene, we’d love to hear from you. Your existing skills in exposure assessment, site management, and client advisory are directly transferable, and our highly experienced and supportive national team will facilitate your transition into a full occupational hygiene professional.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Demonstrated experience in occupational hygiene, exposure science, or hazardous materials consulting, with the ability to deliver technical projects and build strong client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of exposure monitoring methodologies and occupational hygiene principles.
- Confidence producing technical reports and communicating complex findings to varied audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with clients.
- Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in contributing to business growth.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- A valid and current Australian driver’s licence.
Highly Regarded But Not Essential
- Membership (Provisional or Full) of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
- Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) status or active progression toward certification.
- Experience leading projects or mentoring team members.
- Experience working across mining, construction, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
- Project management experience.
Why GCG?

- Access to cutting-edge technology and GCG’s in-house innovation platform.
- Study support and AIOH membership support.
- A supportive, down-to-earth team that values both independence and genuine teamwork.
- Relocation assistance available for successful candidates.
If you’re ready to take the next step – whether deepening your occupational hygiene expertise, stepping into a senior leadership position, or making the move from hazmat into a broader hygiene practice – we’d love to hear from you.
