The Company
- Well-established and highly respected commercial mid-tier builder with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex projects across a diverse range of sectors.
- They have been in operation for over 60 yrs and have in excess of 200 staff Australia wide
- With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued business growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their collaborative Pre-Construction team.

The Position
- This position will suit an experienced Design Manager with a history working in the mid-tier market, someone who can manage both the front-end design and delivery phases.
- You will be a key player in bridging the tender/EOI phase with project delivery while collaborating closely with Project Managers to ensure projects get off the ground smoothly.
- Reporting to the Sydney Ops Manager and the Head of Design based out of QLD you form a team of 3 that oversee the design management
- You will work closely with the site teams to plan and resolve design issues across aged care, hospitality and commercial major loss refurbishments projects valued from $5M - $30M
You will be office based in the Pyrmont however regularly attend site meetings and once a month visit the team in Brisbane for the day
Will consider applications of people coming from an architecture background, ideally with some head contracting or site experience thought
Salary will be in line with experience and the market but figures between 160K – 180K can be expected.
Responsibilities
- Have involved from tender / EOI stages
- Lead design meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and resolving buildability issues
- Coordinate with team to resolve design-related challenges
- Produce reports for senior management as required
- Assist project management teams in securing necessary approvals to begin construction
Key Skills & Experience
- Degree in Construction Management, architecture or a related field
- Proven experience across aged care, hospitality or commercial projects in NSW
- Strong understanding of buildability and budget management within tier two markets
- Experience navigating approvals processes with relevant authorities locally in NSW
- Relationship with local stakeholders and consultants
