Working for Cricket Australia means that you become a part of Australia’s proud history and help us look toward the future. Our players and teams are successful, inspiring and reflect the values and aspirations of the community they represent. As an organisation, we are seeking to drive bold, transformative change in digital experiences, junior participation, culturally diverse inclusion, gender equality and sustainability, whilst also reimagining the W/BBL, building player connection through storytelling and playing our part in developing the game globally.

Our purpose is clear; to unite and inspire everyone to love and play cricket. Cricket is so much more than just a game; it brings people together and binds us all through our shared experiences.

This is your opportunity to join a purpose led organisation that truly makes a difference to Australians.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting time for us, as we have created a brand-new Principal SRE Engineer within our Digital & Technology department. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, resilience and recoverability of digital platforms that support national operations, state associations and major events. You will own the end-to-end operational health of these platforms, embedding Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps and observability practices to deliver systems that are highly available, scalable and match-day ready. By defining SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, and leading incident response and continuous improvement, you will balance reliability with delivery speed, innovation and sustainable cloud cost. Acting as a technical leader across Azure and AWS, you will drive standardisation, guardrails, automation and reusable “golden paths”, enabling safe and frequent releases through strong CI/CD practices and automation-first approaches. You will also champion Copilot and AI-driven capabilities, ensuring solutions are secure, well-governed and aligned to business value, while uplifting teams through coaching, reusable frameworks and best-practice standards across engineering and operations.

Reporting to the Head of Platforms, Operations & Cybersecurity, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead the reliability and operational excellence of critical platforms supporting elite cricket and national events
  • Drive cloud best practices across Azure and AWS, including resilience, recoverability, security, governance and cost optimisation
  • Embed observability, monitoring and reusable guardrails to improve capacity planning, reliability and operational readiness
  • Champion automation and AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency, reduce risk and enhance delivery speed
  • Coach and empower teams in SRE, DevOps and modern engineering practices to uplift organisational capability

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience operating and optimising cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) with modern CI/CD delivery pipelines
  • Strong SRE capability, including defining SLIs/SLOs, managing incidents, and driving post-incident improvements
  • Deep understanding of cloud-first operations, automation, and reliability engineering principles
  • Hands-on expertise designing and implementing automation solutions (e.g. Power Automate, Logic Apps, APIs, scripting, AI/agent frameworks)
  • Ability to build production-grade automation with version control, testing, monitoring, documentation and support handover
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner with product, cyber, operations, state bodies and vendors to deliver scalable, automated outcomes
  • Cloud, automation or ITIL certifications would be good to have.
  • Solid knowledge of security, identity, governance, and responsible AI, combined with a continuous improvement mindset and willingness to contribute to on-call support
