The Opportunity
This role sits with one of Australia's largest and most trusted healthcare brands. ASX-listed, market leader in its category, the kind of business millions of Australians interact with without thinking about it.
They've invested heavily in digital, and this is the next piece: the first time they've brought SEO and AEO expertise in-house. The reason is simple. Search has changed.
People used to Google everything; now they ask an AI. For a business that leads its market, being found and being the answer is no longer a nice-to-have; it's how the customers of the next decade arrive. They want to get ahead of that shift while most of the sector is still catching up, and they want someone to own it.
This is a clean slate. No mess to inherit, no one before you to follow. You walk in, work out what's there, and build the roadmap yourself.
What you'll do
- Audit and prioritise. Work across a portfolio of sites, baseline the traffic and the numbers that matter, and decide what gets fixed first. Then build a roadmap that feeds straight into delivery.
- Get hands-on and technical. Schema, back-end, how the data reads, the page changes that move conversion. Two funded projects are already running, a website redesign and an information architecture rebuild, and you'll plug into both from week one.
- Advise and influence. The brand teams own their sites and content, so you don't hold the keys; you hold the expertise. Set the direction, take recommendations out to those teams, run the sessions, make the case, and turn "here's what we should do" into work that ships. The people who do well here influence without authority.
- Stay focused. Australia first, around 15 sites, organic only. No paid budget to hide behind. The whole point is getting more out of what they already have.
What you'll bring
- Someone who's done this before and can prove it. You'll be the only one in the seat, so you walk in, read the landscape, and lead.
- 5+ years in SEO or digital optimisation, with measurable results behind you
- Technical and data-driven: schema, back-end, how the data reads, the page changes that move conversion
- Fluent in GA and Search Console, turning numbers into a clear, prioritised plan
- Proven on conversion through test-and-learn, not just publishing and hoping
- Multi-site experience, and the nous to build repeatable processes across a portfolio
- Sharp stakeholder skills, because you'll influence teams you don't manage
- AEO is the big plus. If you've started optimising for AI-driven search, lead with it. A strong SEO base and the appetite to build it are enough.
- Relaxed on CMS. Any platform translates; Umbraco familiarity is a bonus.
- Healthcare background not required. What you've delivered matters, not what's on the certificate.
