Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
As a core member of the Estimating Team, the Senior Estimator will coordinate team activities, allocate estimating resources, maintain vital client relationships, identify new opportunities, and develop internal expertise across a variety of civil scopes.
- First-Principle Estimating: Prepare accurate, detailed cost projections from first principles for a variety of civil infrastructure projects including earthworks, utilities, stormwater, pavements, and roads.
- Sector Coverage: Estimate and manage diverse project packages, including:
- Land Development: Residential and industrial subdivisions.
- Utilities: Water, sewer, and recycled water upgrades for SA Water.
- Infrastructure: Road infrastructure and stormwater drainage for local councils and DIT.
- Tender Formulation & Bids: Drive the end-to-end formulation and submission of tenders, ensuring comprehensive and realistic pricing aligned with project metrics.
- Post-Tender Governance: Lead tender and contract negotiations post-submission to secure work-winning outcomes.
- Supply Chain Engagement: Lead the development, structuring, and thorough review of subcontractor work packages, leveraging general knowledge of local market conditions to ensure maximum returns.
- Team Leadership & Development: Coordinate day-to-day activities and resource allocation for the estimating team, while actively managing the training and development of staff.
- Collaborative Handover: Coordinate rigorous and comprehensive tender handovers with the Construction delivery team to set up projects for success.
- Standards & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving civil industry standards and regulatory changes.

About You

Qualifications
- Preferred: Degree or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or a related field.
Experience, Competence, Skills & Knowledge:
- Essential: 10+ years’ dedicated experience within the Civil Construction industry.
- Essential: Proven, robust experience in first-principle estimating across diverse civil engineering disciplines (earthworks, utilities, stormwater, pavements, and roads).
- Essential: General knowledge of local Adelaide market conditions to optimize project returns and evaluate subcontractor work packages.
- Preferred: A strong operational blend of practical on-site project delivery and office-based estimating experience.
- Preferred: High proficiency or exposure to dedicated software platforms such as Expert Estimation or CATS.
