The Position
Join Fairfield City Council as an Assistant Strategic Planner and help shape the future of a growing and diverse community. Working within the Strategic Land Use Planning team, you will support a range of strategic planning initiatives including LEPs, DCPs, planning proposals, policy development and local infrastructure contributions.
This varied role combines planning and administrative responsibilities, including research and data analysis, responding to planning enquiries, preparing public exhibition materials, supporting planning committees and meetings, and assisting with local infrastructure contributions and Section 10.7 Planning Certificates.
This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging planning professional to gain broad experience and develop their career in local government strategic planning.
Essential
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Certificate IV in Local Government (Planning) (completed or currently studying), or equivalent qualification and demonstrated local government experience
- Current Class C NSW Driver Licence
- Strong administrative and computer skills
- An understanding of strategic planning principles and processes
- Excellent customer service, communication and report writing skills
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in strategic planning and/or local infrastructure contributions within local government will be highly regarded
What We Offer
- Permanent full-time position, working 35 hours per week
- This position is a Grade 4, with a salary range starting from $77,652 p.a. up to $83,617 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with further performance-based progression available up to $90,957 p.a., plus superannuation
