At Norwest Private Hospital, we are seeking a Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team in a full-time permanent capacity. We are paper-based hospital so this role will involve working onsite in Bella Vista
About the Role
As a Clinical Coder you will be responsible for abstracting and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for all inpatient episodes. Responsibilities include:
- Timely and accurate clinical coding
- Participating in casemix analysis, education and quality activities
- Contributing to clinical documentation improvement initiatives
- Participating in audits as necessary
Essential Criteria
- HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding or other recognised Clinical Coding course with experience in ICD-10-AM and ACHI according to ACS and National and State clinical coding advice to meet data reporting requirements
- At least 5 years of clinical coding experience within a hospital setting
- Sound understanding of Codefinder and Turbocoder
- Strong organisational and time management skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
- The ability to engage effectively (both spoken and written) with colleagues and stakeholders
- Ability to work within a collaborative team environment
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of private sector funding models
- Understanding in WebPAS patient information system
