Project Manager (12 months), Darwin

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level leadership, coordination, and oversight for the delivery of in-scope project deliverables.
  • Drive adoption and integration of new systems, tools, equipment, processes, or ways of working into frontline andoperational environments, ensuring changes are practical, usable, and accepted by staff.
  • Steer business readiness to adopt the outputs from project deliverables.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications to inform diverse stakeholder groups of project objectives and progressstatus.
  • Apply appropriate project management methodologies to ensure strong planning, control, and delivery.
  • Manage a detailed schedule with critical path.
  • Manage risks, issues, assumptions and constraints with a focus on governance, probity, and alignment to policing andorganisational objectives.
  • Monitor and report on outcomes to ensure benefits are realised and sustained.
  • Lead change management, training, and communication initiatives to embed new capabilities and support user adoption.
  • Analyse operational, legislative, or regulatory requirements relevant to the project environment.
  • Provide advice to senior management on progress, risks, and performance.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading teams or delivering projects involving organisational, operational, or technology-enabled change.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and manage people and resources to achieve defined outcomes in complex orhigh-risk environments.
  • Strong knowledge of planning, coordination, risk, and governance disciplines, supported by experience managingprojects, complex operations, critical incidents, or organisational change to achieve defined outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance delivery with adoption, ensuring outcomes are successfully implemented and integratedinto operations.
  • Experience leading or supporting change management, training, and user engagement to enable organisationaltransformation.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diversestakeholder groups.
  • Experience identifying and analysing operational, legislative, and/or regulatory requirements relevant to the projectenvironment.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage a project to achieves it deliverables within an organisation with changing operationalpriorities.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working within a large, complex, or high-profile project environment.
  • Familiarity with policing, public safety, or government operations.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management or digital transformation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with technical concepts such as system design, integration, or data interfaces.
  • Proficiency in standard project and collaboration tools (for example, Microsoft 365, Teams, Jira or similar), with the abilityto quickly learn new digital platforms and systems.

  • High-level written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into plainlanguage for operational staff.
  • Strong focus on adoption and benefits, not just outputs.
  • Ability to work in a large team environment with members of diverse cultures and backgrounds.

  • Disciplined and accountable for supporting and maintaining work products.
