General Postdoctoral Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training

About The Role

What if your years of rigorous academic training could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems reason, problem-solve, and think? We're looking for postdoctoral researchers and advanced degree holders to take on some of the most intellectually challenging work in AI development — designing complex problems, stress-testing AI reasoning, and pushing the boundaries of what these models can do.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers who want to do meaningful, high-impact work on their own schedule — without leaving the world of serious intellectual inquiry.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop advanced, multi-disciplinary problem sets that challenge and improve AI reasoning capabilities
  • Apply your domain expertise to craft complex, nuanced scenarios with real-world academic relevance
  • Review and evaluate AI-generated solutions for rigor, accuracy, and intellectual depth
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to refine model performance
  • Ensure the highest standards of academic clarity and analytical precision across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments, fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's or PhD in a STEM or highly technical field from a top-tier university
  • Has a strong track record in research, publications, or complex technical project work
  • Thinks in systems — comfortable navigating multi-disciplinary problems with precision and creativity
  • Exceptional written communicator who can translate complex ideas with clarity and depth
  • Detail-oriented and self-directed — you hold yourself to a high standard without needing hand-holding
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or data quality workflows
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other research-oriented programming languages
  • Background spanning multiple technical disciplines or cross-domain research experience
  • Familiarity with AI model development, benchmarking, or RLHF workflows

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside the world's leading research labs
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work when, where, and how you work best
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually rigorous work
  • Apply your expertise to problems that genuinely push the frontier of AI capability
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new research projects launch
