Job Title: Principal Project Manager

Location: Brisbane / Perth

Employment Type: Regular, full-time, hybrid work arrangement

The job

As part of AVEVA Australia Software Services Delivery and PMO organization, the Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of large-scale software service delivery projects. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large-scale software delivery projects.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional technical teams, including client acceptance testing.
  • Review high-level deliverables and manage project scope, assessing requirement changes and their impact on budget and timelines.
  • Implement consistent project management methodologies and quality assurance procedures in line with PMO policies.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks across projects, ensuring timely escalation when necessary.
  • Manage client expectations and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate project key activities, lead / host project milestones such as kick off meeting, user acceptance test at customer site when required (mainly within Pacific region)
  • Oversee project financials, including revenue recognition, invoicing, receivables, and procurement strategies.
  • Track project progress using appropriate tools and prepare clear activity and progress reports.
  • Forecast cost, revenue, and utilization across projects.
  • Identify and capitalize on add-on sales opportunities and support the sales team with proposals, demos, and client training.
  • Capture lessons learned and apply them to future projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and maintain visibility through professional networks.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in software or IT service delivery.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-country, multi-site projects, including global rollouts.
  • Strong understanding of IT integration, MES, KPI dashboards, SCADA systems preferred.
  • Sound background from industry such as minging, Oil & Gas, manufacturing is added advantage.
  • Proficiency in project financials and ERP systems (Oracle/SAP preferred).
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with proficiency in English.
  • Strong internal / external leadership, stakeholder management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage projects under pressure and adapt to dynamic environments.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
