Experienced Drafter – Rail & Metro

The Role

We’re looking for an Experienced Drafter to join our Rail & Metro team, supporting the delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects across Australia.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality drafting and documentation outputs, ensuring alignment with SMEC and client standards while contributing to efficient, coordinated project delivery.

You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams in a collaborative, digitally enabled environment, playing a key role in delivering buildable, compliant design documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for rail infrastructure projects
  • Deliver construction-level documentation in line with project requirements
  • Apply SMEC drafting standards, QA processes, and client specifications
  • Manage drawing outputs within project timelines and milestones
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design delivery
  • Maintain and manage data within Common Data Environments (e.g. ProjectWise or similar)
  • Undertake checking and review of drawings to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Support continuous improvement in digital delivery and drafting practices

About You

You’re a capable and detail-oriented drafter with experience working on transport infrastructure projects, ideally within rail or metro environments.

You Bring

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience as a Drafter within civil/structural or infrastructure projects
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Experience delivering detailed design and construction documentation
  • Understanding of drafting standards, QA processes, and model coordination
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Experience working within digital delivery environments and across multidisciplinary teams will be highly regarded.
