About the National Wine Centre

The National Wine Centre (NWC) is one of Adelaide’s leading hospitality and event venues situated in the vibrant East End of the CBD, in close proximity to the emerging Lot Fourteen precinct and new hotels in the area.

Our unique architectural building is surrounded by the green space of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and parklands and plays host to over 800 events per year attracting international, national and local visitors. Events include conferences, weddings, banquets, meetings and seminars.

The NWC is a showcase and focal point for Australia’s wine industry and as such, it has become a beloved landmark for food and wine lovers across the country who have engaged in the range of wine tourism and event experiences on offer.

About the Role

This position reports to the Food & Beverage Services Manager and is responsible for planning, leading, and coordinating the day-to-day delivery of event operations.

Overseeing a large team, this is a hands-on role that requires a strong presence on the event floor and the ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

The successful candidate will be passionate about all aspects of food and beverage service, with experience in banquets, conferences, and events, and a proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.

The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Provide strong, visible leadership to motivate and engage the Events team in consistently delivering five-star service standards.
  • Liaise with the Kitchen and Event Planning teams to ensure client expectations are exceeded while effectively managing staffing and labour costs.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients to ensure expectations are met and consistently surpassed.
  • Maintain a strong on-the-floor presence to oversee and manage major events and functions; this is a hands-on operational role.
  • Oversee food and beverage stock control, ensuring effective management of costs, profit and loss, and wage expenditure through accurate rostering and appropriate staffing levels.

This position would ideally suit candidates with previous operational event management experience in a similar environment, such as a large hotel or convention centre.

Desired candidate attributes:

  • Diploma/Degree in hospitality or similar management studies
  • Knowledge of F&B operations
  • Strong leadership and communication
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Proficient in MS Office
