Production Manager

Variety Hour

Variety Hour is an independent Australian fashion brand creating art-driven clothing from our Fitzroy studio. Founded by artist Cassie Byrnes, we're defined by bold print-led collections, a strong visual identity, and a loyal customer base locally and internationally.

We operate with creative independence and a clear point of view. We're growing, and we're building the infrastructure to match

The Role

This is a senior production leadership role where you'll own our production end-to-end.

Reporting to the Creative Director and Brand Manager, you'll lead everything from supplier relationships and manufacturing through to delivery, quality and critical path management. You'll also manage one direct report (Warehouse & Stock Manager) while building the systems that will support our next stage of growth.

This is a rare opportunity to own and shape an entire production function as Variety Hour enters its next stage of growth.

Day to Day

  • Own supplier relationships and day-to-day communication
  • Place and manage production orders across multiple collections
  • Own the critical path, ensuring collections are delivered on time
  • Manage samples and approvals, including fabrics, trims, strike-offs and lab dips
  • Partner with the design team to translate creative vision into production-ready products
  • Oversee quality control and bulk inspections
  • Manage costings, margins and production budgets with accuracy
  • Lead the Warehouse & Stock Manager on inbound deliveries and logistics
  • Build and continuously improve production systems, processes and workflows

About You

You've worked in corporate or mid-to-large scale fashion production and you know how to build and run tight systems. Now you want the autonomy and creative culture of an independent brand and the chance to build something from the ground up.

You are:

  • 5+ years' experience in fashion production, sourcing or product development
  • Strong garment construction and textile knowledge
  • Extensive experience working directly with offshore manufacturers
  • Commercially confident with costings, margins and production planning
  • Highly organised with strong Excel and spreadsheet skills
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, you identify issues before they become problems
  • Able to build scalable systems and processes, not just quick fixes
  • Clear, professional communicator who builds strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams
  • Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of outcomes

Why Variety Hour

  • Genuine ownership of the production function from day one
  • Work directly with the Founder and Brand Manager
  • Real autonomy with the opportunity to shape the future of the business
  • Build and lead your own production team as the business grows
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • 5 weeks annual leave

If you're ready to step into something with real impact and make it your own, we'd love to hear from you.
