Accounts Receivable Officer

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Officer to join a supportive finance team based in Altona North. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong customer relationships while staying on top of collections and reporting.

This role is best suited to someone who thrives in a collaborative, in-office environment, working closely with the wider team to keep things running smoothly.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end accounts receivable function, ensuring timely collections and maintaining positive customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage timely debtor collections in line with 30-day trading terms
• Weekly debtor reporting to the Senior Accountant
• Process receipts (cheques, direct deposits, credit cards, webstore downloads)
• Investigate and resolve customer account queries and disputes
• Perform major account reconciliations
• Monitor and manage aged debtors, ensuring DSO targets are met (45-55 days)
• Maintain regular contact with customers via phone and email to drive collections
• Manage accounts on hold and ensure adherence to credit limits
• Process credit applications and support customer requests
• Identify potential bad debts and escalate where required
• General admin duties including filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate records

About You

• Previous experience in an Accounts Receivable or similar role
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
• Confident handling collections and resolving disputes
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
• Comfortable working in a structured, team-oriented office environment
