  • Salary: Band 6 $95,147.56 - $105,035.66 (Pro rata) + superannuation

The opportunity

We’re seeking a passionate and community-focused Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Project Officer to coordinate the development of Hobsons Bay City Council’s RAP. You’ll work with Traditional Owners, First Nations communities,Council staff and other stakeholders to co-design a culturally respectful plan that embeds reconciliation across Council, while building strong partnerships and delivering meaningful community outcomes. You’ll play a key role in embedding reconciliation into Council’s everyday work, creating lasting impact for the community.

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate the end-to-end development of the RAP, including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Build, strengthen and sustain meaningful relationships between Council, Traditional Owners, First Nations organisations, communities and representatives.
  • Plan and deliver inclusive, culturally appropriate community engagement activities
  • Collaborate across Council to identify and embed reconciliation actions
  • Prepare reports, presentations and documentation to support decision-making and approvals

What you need to succeed

  • Strong understanding of First Nations cultures, histories and community needs (ideally in Victoria)
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience supporting or coordinating projects, including planning and reporting
  • Background in community engagement, co-design and stakeholder consultation
  • Well-developed communication skills, with experience preparing reports and providing advice

Pre-Employment Requirements

Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check and a Working with Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver Licence. (or ability to travel between required work locations in a timely fashion).

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
