Media Contributor - Property & Urban Affairs
Good Turtle
About Good Turtle
Good Turtle is a Melbourne-based property marketing platform specialising in off-the-plan residential developments. We're building a brand that stands for quality and credibility in that space, and content is a big part of that. We want to be the most trusted, knowledgeable voice in Melbourne's off-the-plan property conversation, and we're looking for a writer to help us get there.
The Role
This is a freelance contributor position for a writer with a genuine interest in property, urban development, or the economic forces shaping how Melburnians live.
You'll research, pitch, and write editorial-quality articles on topics relevant to Melbourne's property market, then take an active role in getting them published. Think local newspapers, online outlets, and industry publications. All published work will also be featured on the Good Turtle website and social channels.
What You'll Do
• Pitch original article ideas to the Good Turtle director for approval before writing
• Research and write well-sourced, engaging articles on topics such as:
- Melbourne's off-the-plan apartment market
- Suburb trends and urban development
- Interest rates, housing affordability, and buyer sentiment
- Lifestyle and liveability shifts shaping where people want to live
• Proactively pursue publication in newspapers, online outlets, and industry media
• Repurpose research to help inform Good Turtle's social media video content
• Help build Good Turtle's reputation as a trusted voice in Melbourne property
The Deal
• Pay: per article (rate discussed on application)
• Location: remote-friendly, Melbourne-based
• Approval process: all article ideas must be pitched and approved by the director before writing begins
Who We're Looking For
• A journalism student, recent graduate, or experienced journalist with a genuine interest in the Melbourne property market
• Strong writing skills, clear, confident, and capable of writing for a general audience
• Self-motivated: you pitch ideas, you chase editors, you see things through
• Genuine curiosity about property, cities, economics, or urban life
• Prior published clips are a plus, but not essential
To Apply
Send a brief introduction, any writing samples or published clips (if you have them), and two or three article ideas you'd pitch to Good Turtle.
