Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced

BMS / Plant Operator to support the operation and reliability of critical building services within a large and complex healthcare environment on the Gold Coast.

Reporting to the site Facilities leadership team, you will play a key role in monitoring and maintaining building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of essential infrastructure. This role involves working closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure systems are operating effectively and that service standards are consistently met.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge in BMS and HVAC systems, along with a collaborative approach and commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, and optimise the Building Management System (BMS) to support reliable building operations
  • Investigate and resolve BMS alarms, faults, and system performance issues
  • Maintain system documentation, data integrity, backups, and reporting within the BMS environment
  • Support commissioning, upgrades, and improvements to BMS and associated plant systems
  • Assist in coordinating subcontractor works and ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements
  • Monitor service delivery performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support reporting requirements and operational updates for stakeholders
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in alignment with BGIS and site standards

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines
  • Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC plant
  • Knowledge of maintenance activities within large or complex facilities
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and maintenance procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Experience working in healthcare or other critical environments
  • Facilities management experience within integrated service environments
  • Knowledge of asset lifecycle management and maintenance planning
  • Experience supporting subcontractor coordination and service delivery

This position is 100% site-based in Southport on the Gold Coast, working within a large healthcare campus that supports critical services for the surrounding community.
