About the Role
Decmil is seeking a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to provide support to an exciting new Road Upgrade Project in Western Sydney. In this role, you will be working closely with leaders and crews to enable safe, efficient and compliant delivery.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a personal, visible commitment to Decmil's Health and Safety requirements and performance
- Facilitate the Health and Safety risk management process for the Project referencing statutory requirements, business requirements, current industry best practice, and lessons learnt
- Facilitate the identification and assessment of potential health hazards and any required worker health surveillance/monitoring
- Develop, maintain and support compliance with the Project Health and Safety Management Plan
- Engage and manage Project subcontractors to ensure understanding and compliance with Project and business requirements
- Facilitate and lead the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) consultation, cooperation, and coordination arrangements on the Project, including Pre-Start, Toolbox, WHS Committee, etc. Facilitate the development and delivery of Project inductions
What You’ll Bring
- Certificate IV Work Health and Safety (Mandatory) / Diploma or Degree in Work Health and Safety (Desirable)
- 10+ years’ experience in H&S within the construction and/or civil engineering industry. DtNSW experience desirable.
- Experience conducting and interpreting audits and reviews
- Experience in analysing, and reporting on complex project performance, compliance and/or non-conformance
- Working knowledge of state legislative requirements and all Australian Standards relating to relevant scope of works
- Working knowledge of safety legislation, statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable laws or legislation relevant to construction projects
- Proven facilitating and presentation skills, e.g., focus groups and workshops
- Ability to effectively prioritise and manage time and workload
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills
- Effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated high-level decision-making, negotiation and influencing skills Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict in a high-stress environment
Role Details
- Location: Western Sydney
- Roster: Monday – Saturday
- Initial Project Duration: 15 months
- Full Time - Permanent
