About The Role
In the Mining – Business Transformation team, we focus on our clients' strategic and operational needs by addressing the full spectrum of performance, productivity and financial challenges faced by mining organisations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies and other stakeholders.
Our team partners with clients to improve performance, accelerate growth, and unlock long-term value. In Australia, we have developed a strong focus on the mining sector and are now seeking to grow that capability. Our team combines practical mining operations experience with strategic and operational corporate advisory expertise, enabling us to engage credibly with boards, executives, and operational leaders.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Strategy Consultant to join our Brisbane and Perth Mining – Business Transformation practice. This is an entry point for professionals who bring direct industry experience from the resources sector and want to apply that expertise in a consulting environment. The successful candidate will participate in project teams, working with clients on the execution of various engagements.
What You'll Do
- Supporting diagnostic assessments of operational performance across mining asset lifecycles and value chains
- Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify productivity, cost, and capital improvement opportunities
- Assisting in the design and implementation of transformation initiatives across operations and projects to deliver measurable improvements in business performance
- Developing clear, structured insights and materials for senior client stakeholders
- Preparing draft reports, presentations, and correspondence with clear storytelling and messaging
- Working as part of integrated client teams in both site-based and corporate environments
- Contributing to the development of mining transformation methodologies, insights, and market-facing thought leadership

Basic Qualifications
What You Will Need to Succeed
- 2–4 years of professional experience in the mining, metals, energy, or broader resources sector (e.g. site operations, mine planning, engineering, metallurgy, or project delivery)
- A technical degree in engineering, mining, geoscience, or metallurgy, or a business degree in commerce, economics, finance, or a related discipline, is highly regarded
- Some exposure to consulting, advisory, or corporate functions within a mining or resources context is advantageous
- Resilience, a strong willingness to learn, positive attitude, and desire to embrace challenges
- Driven to deliver high-quality client service and deliverables with strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational and executive leaders (verbal and written)
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Familiarity with operating model concepts, value driver analysis, or major program delivery is a plus
- Practical knowledge of AI tools and the ability to apply them appropriately in a professional context, including to support analysis, research, and the development of client deliverables
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to work under pressure to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients
- This role may require travel to client and FTI offices

Compensation
Minimum Pay: $74,000
Maximum Pay: $91,500
