Senior Project Engineer - Pre Construction/Procurement

Summary

An established and well-regarded commercial builder is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their Perth head office, working primarily across procurement and pre-contracts on a portfolio of commercial construction projects.

This is a permanent, office-based role suited to a technically strong Project Engineer who enjoys early-stage project involvement, supply chain engagement, and setting projects up for delivery success, rather than day-to-day site management.

The Role

Reporting into the Pre-Contracts Manager, working in close collaboration with the procurement team, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing procurement activities from early works through to full trade letting
• Preparing and issuing trade packages, scopes of work, and tender documentation
• Leading subcontractor engagement, tender analysis, levelling, and recommendations
• Assisting with budgeting, value engineering, and cost planning during pre-contracts
• Working closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Commercial teams
• Supporting design coordination and buildability reviews prior to construction
• Ensuring smooth handover from pre-contracts into delivery teams

About You

You Will Ideally Have

• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer within commercial construction
• Strong exposure to procurement and/or pre-contracts environments
• Excellent understanding of subcontractor scopes, trade sequencing, and commercial risk
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with consultants and subcontractors
• A methodical, detail-oriented approach with strong commercial awareness
