The Opportunity
A PE-backed financial advisory and accounting firm is scaling its technology function and needs stronger operational foundations to support that growth.
AI and automation are on the roadmap, but the day-to-day environment needs more structure first. Support, vendor management, endpoint, identity, and service delivery all need to run better.
This role exists to fix that.
Reporting to the CIO, you'll come in as the operational 2IC and take real ownership of how the environment runs. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely people-facing one. You'll lead from the front, own escalations, lift the support model, and bring more discipline and accountability to the team and its vendors.
The Role
- You'll be the senior technical voice in the business, day to day, coaching two internal team members, managing MSP performance, and driving operational improvement across infrastructure, endpoint, identity, and security.
- Alongside the steady-state work, you'll support the rollout of Halo ITSM, lead endpoint and monitoring uplift efforts, and help deliver broader initiatives, including a file-share migration to SharePoint.
What you’ll be doing
- Own day-to-day support operations and act as the key escalation point for the team and MSP
- Coach and support two internal team members
- Improve service standards, reporting, and overall operational discipline
- Act as the senior SME across infrastructure, endpoint, identity, and security
- Drive stronger performance and accountability from third-party vendors
- Support the rollout of Halo ITSM and broader service management uplift
- Lead practical uplift work across endpoint management, monitoring, and operational improvement
- Help deliver broader housekeeping and optimisation initiatives, including a file share migration to SharePoint
- Travel to regional offices from time to time as a visible advocate for technology across the business
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in IT operations, infrastructure, identity, endpoints, and security within a Microsoft environment
- Solid hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra, and Intune
- A track record of improving support environments, not just running them
- Experience leading escalations and managing vendors or MSPs with accountability
- Comfortable leading from the front while staying hands-on
- Confident communicator with senior stakeholders
- Experience leading or mentoring small technical teams
- Familiarity with ITIL or similar frameworks is beneficial
- Background in professional services, financial services, or similarly complex environments is highly regarded
