Great opportunity to work with a growing fit-out and refurb design and build contractor with an excellent culture. Projects will be from smaller to $1m to $10m+ across different sectors.
A market leading team with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects, our client is now seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their growing business.
Offering a range of services to their clients, the company specialises in commercial fit-out and refurbishment with projects across various sectors. Incorporating a wide range of skillsets, they manage their projects from design stage through to handover.
As Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager in the delivery of high quality and on-time construction projects, helping ensure that the projects are completed to documented drawings, specifications and nominated timeframes. You will gain exposure to projects from design stage through to handover.
With a project portfolio that includes high end fit outs, you will assist in the running of contracts/projects, supporting the wider team to maintain the high quality and profitability of the projects while financial and contractual risks are minimised.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assist in negotiating and letting subcontracts against budget
- Support the project team throughout the tender process and the delivery of the project
- Contribute to the development of construction methodologies that win tenders
- Help develop and maintain project programs and communicate updates to the team
- Help identify and manage construction risk across projects, escalating issues when required
- Assist in tracking project expenditure and cashflow
- Support the development of project completion plans
- Assist with defect identification and rectification
- Learn from and work closely with senior project staff to develop your own delivery capability
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or similar
- Minimum 2 years' experience supporting the delivery of projects with a fit-out contractor or builder
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of local council and regulatory requirements / standards
- Developing project financial reporting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
