Assistant Underwriting Opportunity – Melbourne & Sydney

Role Purpose
We are seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join the Operations team in either Melbourne or Sydney.
This role is ideal for someone with insurance experience who is looking to develop their underwriting career within a fast-paced, global environment. You will work closely with underwriters to support the end-to-end underwriting process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong service delivery across a diverse portfolio of commercial risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist underwriters with submission preparation and underwriting documentation
- Enter and record bind risks into policy administration systems
- Complete daily underwriting data entry and maintain accurate records
- Update and maintain underwriting logs, ensuring tasks are tracked and current
- Prepare renewal reports, notices, policy documents, and invoice documentation
- Support pricing model checks in collaboration with underwriters
- Conduct sanction screening and assist with compliance requirements
- Liaise with outsourced service providers and support reconciliation of policy records
- Follow up on renewals and support timely workflow completion
- Assist with general underwriting administration to ensure smooth operational processes
- Support multinational and MGA-related activities where required
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous experience within the insurance industry (commercial insurance preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Confident working collaboratively within a team and supporting senior underwriters
- Analytical and logical thinker with good problem-solving ability
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Willingness to learn, develop, and build a long-term career in underwriting
