We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance Team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will support month‑end, reporting and compliance by maintaining accurate, timely financial records.
THE ROLE
The Junior Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support to the Financial Accountant and other finance team members, and for independently managing the end-to-end accounts payable and payroll functions throughout the organisation. Specific functions for accounts receivable and accounts payable include reconciling supplier accounts and invoice processing, communication with suppliers, forecasting and processing of payments.
Additional aspects of the role include general assistance and support to team members, as directed by the Chief Finance Officer. This is a heavily administrative role and requires excellent attention to details.
The Junior Accountant will be expected to work autonomously, take ownership of recurring deadlines, and ensure financial, clerical, and administrative information is accurate and reported in a timely fashion
THE APPLICANT
Successful applicants must have:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Bookeeping, Finance or related discipline (Diploma, Bachelor or equivalent)
- 3+ years’ experience in bookkeeping or general accounting
- Ability to negotiate effectively and manage difficult conversations
- High attention to detail
- Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands, and take full ownership of tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
- A reliable, consistent work record with a strong commitment to meeting recurring deadlines, including payroll runs, BAS, and end-of-month and end-of-financial-year reporting
- Mature, professional interpersonal skills, with sound judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great communication skills
- Demonstrate skills in accounting programs
- Solid understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Payroll processes
