Here’s What You’ll Be Up To…
- Lead and inspire Council’s Environmental Health and Natural Systems teams in delivering services that protect and enhance community wellbeing and our natural environment.
- This role oversees a diverse portfolio including public and environmental health, biodiversity, tree and vegetation management, catchment management, and integrated water management.
- You will need to drive innovative, sustainable and evidence-based outcomes while fostering a high-performing, multidisciplinary team.
- The position plays a critical role in shaping policy, guiding long-term planning and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions aligned with Council’s strategic priorities for our growing city.

The must-know bits
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Health, Environmental Management (or related) with strong knowledge of relevant legislation (public health, food safety, environmental, local government, biodiversity)
- Extensive experience in the coordination and delivery of environmental and health programs, including policy and procedure development and enforcement functions
- Proven ability to assess complex issues and provide sound, evidence-based recommendations
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary teams with strong organisational and time management skills, customer service, verbal and written communication and report writing
- Current Class C Driver Licence
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in court representation of complex environmental health and/or natural system matters
- Good working knowledge of Contamination, Tree management, OSSM matters and the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, including the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, and Biodiversity Assessment Method
