What we are looking for
We are seeking a strategic and purpose-driven Chief of Supporters and Giving to lead UNICEF Australia’s public fundraising and supporter engagement portfolio, accountable for significant, sustainable annual income and long-term engagement with a broad supporter base.
Reporting to the Director, Growth and Engagement, this role brings together supporter acquisition and retention, community and event-based fundraising, and non-financial participation and volunteering into one integrated portfolio, with accountability for $30m+ in annual income. It sits alongside the Chief of Partnerships, who leads high-value philanthropy, corporate partnerships and bequests.
This is a newly created executive role and will suit a senior leader who is comfortable navigating change, shaping future structure and building the capability to grow fundraising at scale.
Your day will include
- Setting and leading the national strategy for Supporters and Giving, with accountability for $30m+ in annual income and a clear pathway to long-term scale
- Providing executive leadership across public fundraising, integrating fundraising strategy, marketing capability and supporter insight
- Leading Individual Giving performance across regular giving, cash appeals and emergency fundraising, optimising acquisition, retention and supporter lifetime value
- Growing fundraising events, community participation and national moments of engagement through the Activate Australia pillar
- Applying strong marketing discipline through audience segmentation, channel and media strategy, proposition development, testing and optimisation
- Leading a large, highly skilled team and nurturing a high-performance, supporter-focused culture aligned to UNICEF’s mission and values
- Driving innovation in fundraising models and partnering with UNICEF’s global network to adopt proven approaches and pilot new giving pathways
We would like you to have the following skills and experience
- Proven experience senior leadership experience in large-scale fundraising, consumer marketing or subscription-based revenue environments
- A strong understanding of and experience working within the fundraising sector
- Demonstrated success delivering $30m+ income portfolios with sustained growth
- Experience driving performance through collaboration with specialist enabling functions such as digital, data, insights and brand
- Strong marketing and commercial acumen, with experience translating audience insight into income performance
- Proven ability to lead large, complex teams and to set and manage income and expenditure strategies
- Exceptional leadership, communication and change-management capability
- A strong alignment with UNICEF Australia’s purpose and values, and a commitment to creating meaningful impact for every child
