Our Sustainability team is working together to create a better future for all Australians. Together, we’re focused on making a positive difference through our three strategic pillars of climate, nature and circularity. These areas align with our most material issues and stakeholder expectations and are the areas we aim to have the most significant impact. We’re also committed to supporting human rights, diversity and inclusion, health, safety and wellbeing, community support, and providing healthy, safe and affordable food. Together, we’re making sustainability part of everything we do at Coles.

About The Role

We’re looking for a highly capable Sustainability Data & Performance Manager to play a critical role in shaping how sustainability performance is measured, governed, and reported across a complex, enterprise environment.

This role sits at the intersection of sustainability, finance, and disclosure, ensuring that sustainability data (particularly emissions and climate-related data) is robust, decision-useful, and aligned to evolving regulatory expectations.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing and evolving sustainability function, helping shape how sustainability performance is measured, governed, and disclosed in line with emerging global standards. Play a key role in ensuring sustainability insights are not just reported, but trusted, assured, and embedded into business decision-making.

You’ll also

  • Lead the consolidation and governance of sustainability data, creating a single source of truth across climate, nature, and broader ESG workstreams
  • Ensure sustainability data (including Scope 3 emissions) is accurate, auditable, and fit for external disclosure and assurance
  • Drive the preparation and coordination of ASRS and broader sustainability disclosures, including engagement with internal and external stakeholders
  • Translate complex sustainability datasets into clear insights and performance reporting to inform executives and the Board
  • Support integration of climate and nature risk data into enterprise reporting and decision-making processes
  • Develop approaches to measure ROI, impact, and emissions outcomes of sustainability initiatives
  • Strengthen data governance, controls, and assurance readiness in line with evolving regulatory expectations
  • Partner closely with Finance, Risk, Legal, and Sustainability teams to align reporting with financial and corporate disclosures

About You And Your Skills

You are a commercially minded sustainability professional who understands that high-quality sustainability reporting is grounded in financial discipline, audit rigour, and regulatory alignment.

You bring a strong grasp of emissions reporting, climate-related disclosures, and ESG frameworks, and can confidently operate across both sustainability and finance stakeholders to ensure data stands up to scrutiny.

You’re equally comfortable navigating complex reporting requirements and influencing senior stakeholders, with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for improving how organisations measure and communicate sustainability performance.

You’ll also ideally have

  • Proven experience in sustainability/ESG reporting, emissions accounting, or climate disclosure
  • Deep understanding of Scope 1, 2, and Scope 3 emissions data and reporting challenges
  • Exposure to ASRS, TCFD, ISSB, or similar disclosure frameworks
  • Experience working at the intersection of sustainability and finance reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder data collection and validation processes
  • Deep understanding of data governance, controls, and assurance requirements
  • Ability to translate technical sustainability data into clear, decision-useful insights
  • Experience supporting or leading external disclosures and audit/assurance processes
