The opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a dynamic governance role supporting the Corporate Integrity team within Council. As a Governance and Business Support Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth Council and Committee operations, maintaining vital governance registers, and supporting transparency and compliance activities. If you enjoy working in a structured, purpose-driven environment and want to build your governance expertise, this role offers the perfect blend of administration, coordination and meaningful contribution to the community.

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate Council and Committee meetings, including agendas, minutes and logistics
  • Maintain key governance registers (delegations, policies, expenses, transparency records)
  • Support statutory compliance, reporting and public transparency obligations
  • Assist with citizenship ceremonies, Junior Council and governance programs
  • Provide governance support, research and advice to stakeholders

What you need to succeed

  • Experience or qualifications in governance, public administration or similar
  • Knowledge of the Local Government Act 2020 and governance principles
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written communication, including report writing and minute taking
  • High attention to detail with a proactive and improvement-focused mindset

Pre-Employment Requirements
