About The Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

About The Opportunity

We’re seeking safety-focused, hardworking and motivated individuals to join our team as a Rail Labourer. Rail Labourers are responsible for the hands-on maintenance and upkeep of ARTC’s rail network. This includes carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance activities, as well as supporting minor construction works associated with planned capital upgrades.

In this role, you will perform a range of tasks including general labouring, track maintenance, safety protection duties, detailed visual inspections of rail infrastructure, operating heavy machinery, welding, and other specialised maintenance activities — all while adhering to ARTC’s strict safety and quality standards.

No rail experience? No problem.

If you bring the right attitude and work ethic, we’ll provide a structured training program designed to equip you with the knowledge, certifications and practical skills you need to succeed.

What do we want from you?

Essential

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required
  • Be able to pass a Category 1 Rail Medical

Desirable

  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Civil, rail or plant experience
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) competencies
  • HR Licence
