Do you love storytelling and have a passion for producing insightful written content? We’re looking for a Sydney-based Content Writer that can brief, sub-edit and also produce their own content to own and elevate our organic growth strategy in the US and beyond.
This role is ideal for a local writer with extensive experience driving content in new markets in particular the US. You’ll combine native-level familiarity with US cultural nuances, modern SEO expertise, and strategic AI proficiency to deliver measurable growth for a platform supporting local artisans.

About the role
As our Digital Content Writer, your mission is to drive ClassBento’s organic growth across new markets in particular the US through high-impact content. You are a highly experienced writer who loves the craft of long-form SEO content, enjoys testing new strategies in a high-growth startup environment, and serves as our internal compass for US cultural relevance.
You will act as a lead voice for our US audience, producing high-authority "Hero" articles and landing page copy that truly resonates with an American demographic. In line with living ClassBento’s Open, Caring and Conscientious values, success in this role is measured by the delivery of quarterly OKRs focused on content quality and organic engagement. You will leverage AI as a "co-pilot" to maximise efficiency while keeping the human heart, expertise, and brand personality at the centre of everything you write.
Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality, long-form content and "Hero" guides designed to target high-intent search terms and capture key audience segments in the US market.
- Write with an "answer-first" mindset to perform in Generative Search Experiences (SGE) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), ensuring our content is the primary source for AI-driven answers.
- Use keyword research to strategically incorporate search terms into articles and landing pages, focusing on "Helpful Content" that provides genuine user value.
- Editorial Standards: Self-edit all work for accuracy, readability, and brand voice alignment, ensuring your copy requires minimal revision from the team leads.
- Collaborate with global content teams to share insights and content ideas.
- External Briefing: Translate high-level SEO strategies into clear, actionable briefs for freelance contributors, ensuring alignment with US market nuances and ClassBento’s brand voice.
- Sub-Editing & Quality Control: Act as the primary editorial gatekeeper for outsourced content, refining drafts to meet our E-E-A-T standards and ensuring every piece is "search-ready" before publication.
Experience & Skills
- 4+ years of digital content writing experience, ideally in a fast-paced start-up, e-commerce marketplace, or creative agency.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- CMS Proficiency: Hands-on experience working within a backend CMS or marketplace platform to publish and manage content at scale.
- SEO & Data Proficiency: Working knowledge of SEO principles and hands-on experience with tools like Ahrefs, Google Analytics and Search Console to drive organic growth.
- Editorial Excellence: Exceptional copywriting and editing skills, with a focus on conversion optimisation, readability and maintaining high-quality standards.
- AI & Systems Literacy: Proficient in using AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini) as a productivity co-pilot to scale drafting and ideation.
- Marketplace Insight: Ability to analyse market data and emerging trends to adapt content strategies and identify growth opportunities.
- Mission Alignment: A genuine passion for arts, crafts, and creative wellbeing, with a desire to help small businesses thrive.
- Exceptional Writing & Editing: A master of tone, grammar, and storytelling, with the ability to switch between sales-focused copy and authority-focused articles.
- Operational Discipline: Proven ability to organise, manage, and deliver high volumes of work under pressure and to strict deadlines.

Cultural Fluency: You may be a US native, an expat who has lived/worked in the US long-term, or a writer with a proven track record of writing extensively for major US companies. You inherently understand US spelling, slang, seasonal trends, and consumer behavior.
