We are looking for a Safety & Continuous Improvement Coordinator to join our team at Lenah Valley. This varied role is ideal for a proactive individual who enjoys learning, building relationships and making a visible impact across safety and site performance.

The Role

Our Lenah Valley site in Hobart manufactures a range of more than 50 milk, milk-based and cream products, with all products made from fresh milk sourced directly from Tasmanian dairy farms. The site currently produces around 33 million litres of product every year, operating 6 days a week and employing around 50 people.

This unique role combines safety and continuous improvement, with responsibility for leading safety outcomes and supporting operational improvement across the Lenah Valley site. As the only safety professional onsite, you will take ownership of local safety systems, training and continuous improvement initiatives, while drawing on the expertise of Bega Group's broader Safety Team.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, curious and adaptable, with the confidence to work autonomously, build strong relationships and continually learn and grow in the role.

This role is site based, permanent full time, however we are open to part time or flexible hours arrangements for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead workplace health, safety and wellbeing activities across the site.

  • Provide coaching and support to leaders and Team Members to strengthen safety capability and culture.

  • Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations and corrective action management.

  • Coordinate site training, inductions and emergency preparedness activities.

  • Monitor site performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve safety, capability and operational performance.

  • Lead and support a varied range of continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

  • Manage contractor safety and support safe implementation of site projects and changes.

About you

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) and experience in a manufacturing, food handling or industrial environment.

  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles and incident investigation methodologies.

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes.

  • Demonstrated learning agility, with the curiosity and adaptability to build capability across both safety and continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders from senior leaders to frontline Team Members.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset, with intermediate Microsoft Office skills, experience with SAP and Intelex highly regarded.
