What you’ll do
Reporting to the Offshore Environment Manager, this position plays a critical role in supporting offshore operations through environmental compliance, assurance, regulatory engagement and continuous improvement. You will lead environmental compliance activities, provide expert advice to operational teams, and help ensure statutory commitments and environmental approvals are effectively managed
As the Lead Environmental Adviser – Compliance, you will:
- Lead the environmental compliance team and provide specialist environmental guidance to operations
- Plan and undertake environmental audits, compliance reviews and contractor assurance activities.
- Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports required under permits, licences and regulatory approvals.
- Monitor operational activities to ensure alignment with environmental approvals, regulatory requirements and Santos management systems.
- Lead or participate in investigations of significant environmental incidents and support effective corrective action closure.
- Support environmental risk assessments, including ENVID workshops and management of change processes
- Liaise with operational and project teams to ensure environmental approvals are in place for non-routine activities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators and support regulatory consultation activities.
- Manage external consultants and contractors delivering environmental monitoring programs
- Develop, review and improve environmental plans, procedures and compliance processes.
What You Will Bring
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within the hydrocarbon, oil and gas or energy industry.
- Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, Safety Cases, Environment Plans and relevant Western Australian HSE legislation.
- Experience working within complex operational environments, including offshore, remote or logistics-based operations.
- Auditor qualifications and environmental auditing experience
- Experience using systems such as SAP, Landfolio, GRC or other environmental and incident management platforms
- Relevant offshore certifications including TBOSIET, CA-EBS, MISC and OGUK.
